CCAP Videos

We use a variety of techniques to maintain and subculture our algae and protozoa, the following videos demonstrate some of these methods, and will be added to and updated over the coming months. If you have any questions on any method or if you can't find the information you need, please contact us.

Subculturing amoeba using block transfer method.

This method is used to subculture amoeba on agar plates. We use a non-pathogenic strain of E. coli. All subculturing is carried out using aseptic techniques in a laminar flow cabinet to prevent contamination. In making this video we used a sterile disposable scalpel and loop, in normal subculturing we use reusable tools and sterilise before each use.
